1. Cara kita run bisnes kita bukan strategi

2. Strategi boleh dilihat dari aktiviti bisnes yang unik kepada bisnes kita. Hanya bisnes kita sahaja yang ada aktiviti tersebut. Strategi bisnes kita boleh difahami dengan mengkaji aktiviti tersebut.

3. Positioning semata-mata bukan lagi satu strategi untuk bisnes era milenium ini. Positioning yang UNIK kepada kita barulah satu strategi.

4. Positioning yang unik memerlukan trade-offs. Oleh itu, budak besar tidak boleh senang-senang tiru unik position kita. (baca contoh untuk lebih faham).

5. Positioning yang betul-betul ‘fit’ dengan market adalah satu kelebihan bisnes dan boleh sustain bisnes kita. (baca bab Fit and Sustainability untuk maklumat lanjut)

6. The Growth Trap: nafsu nak growkan biz kita boleh menyebabkan kita lari daripada strategi yang dirancang, lalu memusnahkan bisnes. (baca lanjut untuk faham bagaimana Growth boleh jadi perangkap)

7. Strategy is about making decision (choices). “Moreover, strong leaders willing to make choices are essential.” <– penting untuk ada leadership yang kuat.

Paragraph paling penting: “Having defined positioning, we can now begin to answer the question, “What is strategy?” Strategy is the creation of a unique and valuable position, involving a different set of activities. If there were only one ideal position, there would be no need for strategy. Companies would face a simple imperative—win the race to discover and preempt it. The essence of strategic positioning is to choose activities that are different from rivals’. If the same set of activities were best to produce all varieties, meet all needs, and access all customers, companies could easily shift among them and operational effectiveness would determine performance.”
